Historical research is generally concerned with the past. It is usually carried out for verifying the authenticity of historical records or analyzing and interpreting the events that happened in the past. It is sometimes conducted for the purpose of predicting future events on the basis of past events. For example research conducted for knowing the root causes of civil wars fought between particular countries or nations in the past in order to prevent such wars in the future. Similarly research done for discovering the main reasons of civil unrest, or the formation of political or civil movements in a particular country or region of the world.
